Two lists are about to be asked for, and they are not copies of each other. Wise CAD wants business personal property. Your tax preparer may want a depreciation schedule. Parts on the truck can be missing from both. Alvord's sales-tax line has a separate honesty problem: a half point of the combined rate is not labeled on the file used here.
Alvord is in Wise County. The Comptroller combined rate is 8.25%. City tax is 1.5%. The file lists neither a transit authority nor a special-purpose district. State sales tax is 6.25%. City tax plus the state rate stops at 7.75%. The other 0.5% is inside the combined rate and is not named in the city, transit, or special-district columns here. When you code a return, take the label from the Comptroller's city rate detail. Do not nickname the half point. Wise CAD gets the business personal property rendition on April 15. The form, not a habit from another county, sets the date the property is listed as of. Franchise (margin) tax reports are due May 15. Being under the no-tax-due threshold is something you verify in the official instructions. The threshold's dollars are omitted on purpose. There is no state personal income tax to file alongside it. Open the depreciation schedule. It has the van, maybe the trailer, maybe a recovery machine if someone remembered to capitalize it. It does not have the bins. The bins were coded to cost of goods, or to supplies, the week the supply house was paid. Wise CAD is not asking for your expense coding. The rendition asks for business personal property the district's form covers. Walk the van with a notepad before you trust either list. Write what is bolted to the van and what is loose stock. Loose stock that will be billed to a customer next week is still yours tonight. The notepad is the start of the rendition. The depreciation schedule is a check against forgetting the van itself. Keep the sales-tax half point from hijacking this week, and do not ignore it either. Alvord city tax is 1.5%. State tax is 6.25%. The combined rate is 8.25%. The unnamed 0.5% needs the Comptroller's own detail before you name an account after a guess. If the flat-rate book is still charging a leftover rate, fix that book as its own task. Do not stuff the difference into the property list. May 15 still arrives for the franchise report. A truck full of parts is not a franchise-tax worksheet. If the only books are the supply-house receipts plus the bank, you do not yet have revenue. You have activity. The rendition and the franchise report will both punish that confusion in different ways. Send the latest depreciation export, photos or a counted list of what is on the van, and the flat-rate book's tax setting if you can screenshot it. The first pass builds two columns: items the depreciation schedule knows, and items the van count found that the schedule expensed. It does not invent values for the bins. It marks them as present and unpriced so nobody pretends the rendition is finished when the prices are still open. You get those two columns, plus a yes-or-no on whether the book is charging Alvord's 8.25% or a leftover rate. The columns come back with enough days left before April 15 to price the bins and file. A list that arrives on April 16 is a different kind of help. A messy van photo is a fine attachment. Send the photos.
