Cluck Creek and U.S. Highway 183, northwest of Austin, in southwestern Williamson. The older name, for the creek and the settlement, was Running Brushy, after a heavy spring at the head of the creek. George Cluck drove cattle up the Chisholm Trail with his wife Harriet, described as the first woman to make that drive, and the Clucks bought the land that included Running Brushy Spring. The ranch became the nucleus. Joel Sutton was an early postmaster, then Harriet Cluck held the post office. The Austin and Northwestern Railroad crossed the Cluck land on the way from Austin to Burnet and the deed called for a sidetrack. The railroad renamed the place Brueggerhoff, for a partner in a company tied to the line, before the name Cedar Park stuck.
Running Brushy on an old envelope is this place, not another town. Brueggerhoff is the railroad name, also this place. A Chisholm herd fee, if you still do anything like it, is not a sidetrack freight bill and not a post-office story. Harriet Cluck is a historical postmaster, not a vendor you add for color. Austin transit does not belong on this row. Cedar Park city tax is 2 percent and the combined column is 8.25 percent with no transit authority, even though the commute runs toward Austin.
