The town and the county are both named Andrews, and the oil-month deposit still needs a label.

Same name on the map. Not the same meaning on the bank line.

You are in Andrews County, on the southern High Plains, and the file is loud in some months and thin in others. This page is the remote way that file gets a close. Nobody is asking you to haul paper out of Andrews.

Andrews County, in its own words

Andrews County is on the southern High Plains, with New Mexico on the west, and the seat is Andrews. It was established in 1876 from Bexar County. The name is Richard Andrews, who lived from 1800 to 1835 and was the first Texan soldier to die in the Texas Revolution.

The handbook describes level, rolling prairie, sandy soils, and red clay loam toward the east. It says the county's aridity and its lack of surface streams shaped the early years. Ranching came first. The handbook names the Wells Ranch and Morris's C-Ranch as covering most of the eastern part in the 1890s, and it ties the four-section law of 1895 to the end of open-range ranching there.

Oil is the later fact that entry is plain about. On December 5, 1929, the Deep Rock Ogden No. 1 came in, tapped at 4,345 feet, and the rest of the handbook follows petroleum production. Highways 385, 176, and 115 are the roads it names, meeting at Andrews. If your books are in that town, the file is a prairie county that became an oil county.

Running a business here

Start with the rate, because Andrews is easy to misread. The July 2026 Comptroller figure used here shows no county sales tax. State sales tax is still 6.25%. A city rate, if the city has one, stacks on that state rate. The combined cap is 8.25%. Do not invent a county piece that the file does not list.

The county appraisal district for Andrews County still gets the business personal property rendition. April 15 is the date. The district's form decides which day the list is as of.

The franchise report is due May 15. No state income tax in Texas does not erase either of those two dates.

Working with Steven from Andrews County

Andrews the town and Andrews the county are the same word on a dry map. New Mexico is west. Gaines is north, Martin east, Winkler and Ector south. The handbook calls it southern High Plains prairie, sandy except where the east turns to red clay loam, with no surface streams. The Wells Ranch and Morris's C-Ranch covered most of the eastern part in the 1890s, until the 1895 four-section law pushed open range apart. None of that geography tells a bank line whether a credit is royalty or the shop.

The oil date to remember is December 5, 1929, the Deep Rock Ogden No. 1, tapped at 4,345 feet. A loud month still looks like that legacy. A quiet month looks like the prairie. Pull one stub from each. The 1891 rain-making trials in the handbook are a curiosity about clouds. Your two stubs are not clouds. No county sales tax on this Comptroller line does not classify either stub. Highway 176 runs east and west, 385 runs north and south, and 115 crosses them in town. Roads are not categories. Leave them off the scrap.

Mechanics after the stubs exist: open QuickBooks Online, put both PDFs on a secure link, talk on Teams for 30 minutes, let Steven read the bank feed, take a short written note, and send the franchise report for e-signature if May 15 is the circled morning. Schedule on the booking link. Nothing rides Highway 385 to Lubbock. Andrews has no Palmieri lobby.
