Burleson County's seat is the town of Caldwell. That town is not Caldwell County. The Brazos is the east line. Two kinds of money can still share one account. Remote is how the file gets seen.
The Brazos is the east line of Burleson County, and the courthouse town is Caldwell, which a stranger can confuse with Caldwell County or with Lockhart. Edward Burleson, a general in the Texas Revolution and a vice president of the Republic, is the namesake. The county was created in 1846 from Milam County. Milam lies north, Robertson and Brazos east, Washington south, and Lee west.
Yegua Creek and East Yegua Creek drain the west and south and meet the Brazos at the southeast corner. Somerville Lake sits on Yegua Creek beside the town of Somerville. State Highway 36 and State Highway 21 cross the county, one north-south and one east-west. The Union Pacific and the Burlington Northern Santa Fe both serve the county. A grassland strip called the San Antonio Prairie crosses the middle. A bottom week and a prairie week can share one account here.

The July 2026 Comptroller figure used here shows a county sales tax of 0.5% for Burleson County. State sales tax is 6.25%. Where a city has its own rate, that city rate stacks on the state rate and any county rate. The combined cap is 8.25%. City rates are not listed on this page.
Business personal property renditions go to the county appraisal district for Burleson County. Put April 15 on the calendar. That district's form says which date controls the list.
The franchise report is due May 15. Texas has no state income tax. Neither date goes away because of that.
A week in the town of Caldwell can hold a bottom ticket off the Brazos and a prairie ticket off the grassland strip through the middle. Somerville paper, from the town beside the reservoir, is a third label when the invoice names Somerville. Say Burleson in the same line as Caldwell so the file is not read as Lockhart. The 0.5% county rate does not tell you which of those three the deposit was. Put the place on the line, and say whether the work sat on the river bottom or on the prairie.
