Burnet is the seat of Burnet County, and granite is not a journal entry.

Three forks of the San Gabriel. The Colorado is the west line, not a code.

Burnet County's seat is Burnet, on the northeastern edge of the Hill Country. No county sales tax shows on the figure used here. Granite, a hill job, and a prairie job can still share a week. The close is remote.

Burnet County, in its own words

David G. Burnet, president of the provisional government of the republic, is the name. The town of Burnet is the seat, and the town was called Hamilton until February 1858. The county was formed in 1852 from Bell County, Travis County, and Williamson County.

The seat sits at U.S. Highway 281 and State Highway 29, on the Austin Area Terminal Railroad. Lampasas, Blanco, Llano, and San Saba border the hills, and Bell, Williamson, and Travis are both parents and neighbors. The Colorado makes most of the west line, then wanders across the south. The San Gabriel rises in three forks in the north and center. The Lampasas River cuts only the northeast corner. Granite, limestone, industrial sand, and graphite are the mineral names. Fort Croghan stood at the future town after Henry E. McCulloch's ranger station. Samuel E. Holland, Noah Smithwick, Logan Vandeveer, and Peter Kerr are early names in that entry, and Lyman Wight's colony sat at the falls of Hamilton Creek.

Running a business here

Burnet can have a quarry week and a prairie week in the same books.

The July 2026 Comptroller figure used here shows no county sales tax for Burnet County. State sales tax is 6.25%. Where a city has its own rate, that city rate stacks on the state rate and any county rate. The combined cap is 8.25%. City rates are not listed on this page.

Business personal property renditions go to the county appraisal district for Burnet County. Put April 15 on the calendar. That district's form says which date controls the list.

The franchise report is due May 15. Texas has no state income tax. Neither date goes away because of that.

If the invoice says Burnet, write whether you mean the town or the whole county. The town was Hamilton until the 1858 rename, and the first post office used that older name.Graphite in particular should not be filed as limestone. The Lampasas River is only the northeast corner, and it is not Lampasas County's books. Fort Croghan, Peter Kerr's townsite gift, and Lyman Wight's colony at the falls of Hamilton Creek are the founding layer. Oatmeal and Smithwick are other early communities in the entry. The Austin Area Terminal Railroad is the rail name at the seat. U.S. 281 is the highway. Deer and turkey in the wildlife sentence are not products unless you sell them.
