Two railroads cross in the seat. Pine, cypress, and oak are not one pile.
Camp County's seat is Pittsburg, where two old rail lines cross. A lake on the former county line is not a freight bill. The count can be done without a drive.
Pittsburg is where two railroads cross, and a freight bill may print either the construction name or the later name. The north-south line was built as the Texas and St. Louis and is remembered as the St. Louis Southwestern. The east-west line was built as the East Line and Red River Railway. John Lafayette Camp, the Upshur County senator who carried the petitions, is the namesake. The county was separated from Upshur County in 1874. The seat is on U.S. Highway 271.
Big Cypress Creek was the north and east boundary when the county was organized. Lake Bob Sandlin and Lake O' the Pines later covered much of that creek. Leesburg and Center Point lost the seat election to Pittsburg. Rocky Mound is the other community named with them. Ceramic clay and industrial sand are mineral names beside oil and gas. The soils are described as light-colored loam.
Pittsburg can stack pine and still be waiting on a sale.
The July 2026 Comptroller figure used here shows a county sales tax of 0.5% for Camp County. State sales tax is 6.25%. Where a city has its own rate, that city rate stacks on the state rate and any county rate. The combined cap is 8.25%. City rates are not listed on this page.
Business personal property renditions go to the county appraisal district for Camp County. Put April 15 on the calendar. That district's form says which date controls the list.
The franchise report is due May 15. Texas has no state income tax. Neither date goes away because of that.
Use the name printed on the bill. Do not translate Texas and St. Louis into St. Louis Southwestern, or the East Line into its later railroad name, unless the paper already did. A receipt from Lake Bob Sandlin or Lake O' the Pines is lake money. It does not stand in for a freight bill, and it does not replace the town on the invoice. Ceramic clay or industrial sand gets its own stub only when that stub is in your hand. Leesburg, Center Point, and Rocky Mound stay off the line unless the invoice names one of them.
Book a time if the railroad name and the lake name are one line.
