The Kansas Railway reached these flats in the 1880s. The Ogallala Aquifer is the supply under the crops. Wheat, oats, barley, and corn sit on the crop list. Cottonwood and elm stand in the bottoms. Samuel Price Carson's secretariat ended in the late 1830s, ahead of statehood. Potter stands on one side. Gray stands on another. Armstrong keeps a separate folder. Hutchinson takes the Canadian-bound streams and does not take this folder. Skellytown is the refinery place, not the courthouse. White Deer is the trust. Francklyn is the failed effort. Antelope is not Dixon. McClellan leaves across that corner. Turkey Track grazed ranges here by 1880. Washburn was the missed-line station, and a connector tied Panhandle City to Washburn in 1889. Groom, Lark, and Conway appeared along the Choctaw right-of-way. Yarnall was the border stop. Chicago, Rock Island and Gulf bought that track in 1904. Atchison, Topeka and Santa Fe extended the same track onward. St. Francis straddles the Potter boundary and kept a German Catholic character. Polish settlers centered on the village White Deer after 1909. Miami inside Roberts supplied hauled loads until windmills tapped the Ogallala. Gulf drilled the 1921 discovery.
