The Butterfield Mail crossed here. Sheep and goats are not the same check as cotton.
Coke County's seat is Robert Lee. No county sales tax is on the file. Fort Chadbourne is a ruin of a post, not an office you visit for a close. The books are handled remotely.
Robert Lee is the seat, chosen in an 1891 election, and the town carries Robert E. Lee's name because he served at Fort Chadbourne. Richard Coke, a governor of Texas, is the county namesake. The county was cut from Tom Green County in 1889. Cattle, sheep, goats, and horses dominate the agricultural list, with cotton, sorghum, hay, and fruit beside them.
Runnels lies east, Tom Green south, Sterling west, and Mitchell and Nolan north. The land is Edwards Plateau and Colorado valley. Yellow Wolf Creek and the north branch of the Colorado drain the county. Fort Chadbourne was set in the northeast in 1851 and manned until the Civil War. The Butterfield Overland Mail used the route from 1858 to 1861. The fort is a ruin of a post. It is not where this month gets closed.
Robert Lee can have a livestock check and a peanut or cotton check in one month.
The July 2026 Comptroller figure used here shows no county sales tax for Coke County. State sales tax is 6.25%. Where a city has its own rate, that city rate stacks on the state rate and any county rate. The combined cap is 8.25%. City rates are not listed on this page.
Business personal property renditions go to the county appraisal district for Coke County. Put April 15 on the calendar. That district's form says which date controls the list.
The franchise report is due May 15. Texas has no state income tax. Neither date goes away because of that.
A cattle check and a sheep or goat check can come off the same section at Robert Lee and still be two deposits. Cotton, sorghum, or a fruit ticket is another pile when you actually have it. Leave Fort Chadbourne off the vendor line. The post explains the town's name and does not receive the file. Yellow Wolf Creek goes on the description only if the paper already names it. Missing county sales tax does not merge the livestock lines.
