Named for the empresario Green DeWitt. Yorktown and Meyersville are German settlements.
DeWitt County's seat is Cuero. A Cuero credit and a Yorktown credit can share a week. The close is remote.
Cuero is the seat now. Clinton, near Chisholm's Ferry, held the county court from November 28, 1850, until Cuero took it in 1876. Green DeWitt, an empresario, is the namesake. The county was formed in 1846 from Goliad County, Gonzales County, and Victoria County. The Guadalupe runs through the account. A current month files at Cuero.
Yorktown, Meyersville, and Arneckeville are the early German settlements named with one another. Lateiner was later called Five Mile, so an old paper and a newer paper can name one place two ways. Thomaston and Hochheim are other communities the entry names. Karnes and Lavaca touch the line along with the parent counties.
Cuero can clear a town credit that is not Yorktown.
The July 2026 Comptroller figure used here shows no county sales tax for DeWitt County. State sales tax is 6.25%. Where a city has its own rate, that city rate stacks on the state rate and any county rate. The combined cap is 8.25%. City rates are not listed on this page.
Business personal property renditions go to the county appraisal district for DeWitt County. Put April 15 on the calendar. That district's form says which date controls the list.
The franchise report is due May 15. Texas has no state income tax. Neither date goes away because of that.
File the current month under Cuero. Use Clinton only when the paper itself is from the years Clinton held court. A Cuero week can include a Yorktown ticket and a Meyersville ticket, and Arneckeville keeps its own name when the invoice says it. Lateiner and Five Mile are the earlier name and the later name of one settlement. Use the name printed. Thomaston or Hochheim goes on the line only when the invoice says that community. Leave the Guadalupe off the payer line.
Book a time if Clinton and Cuero are one line.
