Named for Burr H. DuVal of Goliad. Benavides is another town the entry names.
Duval County's seat is San Diego. A rail-town credit and a highway-town credit can share a week. The close is remote.
Burr Harrison DuVal, a Revolution soldier who died in the Goliad Massacre, is the name. San Diego is the seat. The county was formed in 1858 from Live Oak County, Nueces County, and Starr County.
Webb, La Salle, McMullen, Live Oak, Jim Wells, Brooks, and Jim Hogg are the neighbors. San Diego sits on the Texas Mexican Railroad where State Highway 44, State Highway 359, and Farm Road 1329 meet. State Highway 16 crosses north and south. U.S. Highway 59 crosses on a diagonal. Benavides is another town the entry places in the county. The ground is nearly level to undulating.
San Diego can see a rail credit and a highway credit.
The July 2026 Comptroller figure used here shows no county sales tax for Duval County. State sales tax is 6.25%. Where a city has its own rate, that city rate stacks on the state rate and any county rate. The combined cap is 8.25%. City rates are not listed on this page.
Business personal property renditions go to the county appraisal district for Duval County. Put April 15 on the calendar. That district's form says which date controls the list.
The franchise report is due May 15. Texas has no state income tax. Neither date goes away because of that.
Put San Diego on the line when the paper is the courthouse town, and Benavides when the paper names the other town. A credit that arrived with the railroad and a credit that arrived by highway can share a week and still need two labels. The three parent counties from 1858 do not get a copy of the file.
Book a time if the two towns are one line.
