Eastland is the seat of Eastland County, and your month still has to name the town.

Cisco began as Red Gap. Old Rip was the horned lizard in the cornerstone.

Eastland County's seat is Eastland. A seat-town credit and a Cisco credit can share a week. The close is remote.

Eastland County, in its own words

William Mosby Eastland, a soldier in the Texas Revolution, is the name. Eastland is the seat. The county was formed in 1858 from Bosque County, Coryell County, and Travis County.

Residents of Red Gap moved and renamed that place Cisco. A later seat election kept Eastland. Ranger, Rising Star, Ellison Springs, Pioneer, and Red Gap are settlements the entry names. Old Rip was a horned lizard placed in the cornerstone of the old Eastland courthouse, and that story drew attention in the 1920s. Erath lies east. Stephens and Palo Pinto lie north. The Texas and Pacific is the railroad in that account.

Running a business here

Eastland can hold a Cisco paper that is not the seat.

The July 2026 Comptroller figure used here shows no county sales tax for Eastland County. State sales tax is 6.25%. Where a city has its own rate, that city rate stacks on the state rate and any county rate. The combined cap is 8.25%. City rates are not listed on this page.

Business personal property renditions go to the county appraisal district for Eastland County. Put April 15 on the calendar. That district's form says which date controls the list.

The franchise report is due May 15. Texas has no state income tax. Neither date goes away because of that.

Working with Steven from Eastland County

You share the QuickBooks Online file. Bank feeds come with that access. Documents go through a secure link. The first conversation is a 30-minute Teams call. Each month you get a short written note. Returns go out for e-signature. A time to start is on the Bookings page. You do not drive in, mail a box, or wait at an office. Send the file. The first pass names what is off. You get that note back while there is still time to use it.

You came here looking for help because the books in Eastland County are behind and a date is coming. Eastland is the seat, and the work that pays you may clear in another town in the same county. The handbook describes this economy as agribusiness beside petroleum work, including oilfield equipment and the tanks and portable buildings made with it. A cattle check and an equipment invoice can both land in the same week. If you leave them on one line, you cannot tell which one carried the month, and the next estimate is a guess.

There is no county sales tax here, so the city rate is the whole local piece on the state 6.25%, and the combined cap is still 8.25%. When the sale is in Cisco, the city piece on that ticket can differ from a sale you made in Eastland, because this county adds no county rate of its own. When you record the deposit, write the town that made the sale. Otherwise the return uses the wrong stack, and you will not see the miss until a notice arrives.

The county fair is held each October. If that is the week your farm cash actually arrives, date the deposit to that week instead of smoothing it across the year. Your rendition still goes to the Eastland County appraisal district by April 15, and your franchise report is still due May 15. Those dates do not move because the job was in Ranger. You can close the month from where you are. Send the file with the town and the kind of work written on the deposit that confused you.
