Falls County's seat is Marlin. A west-bank credit and an east-bank credit can share a week. The close is remote.

Falls County, in its own words

The county is named for the falls on the Brazos. Marlin is the seat. The county was formed in 1850 from Limestone County and Milam County.

Limestone, Robertson, Milam, Bell, and McLennan are the neighbors. The ground is Blackland Prairie, gently rolling, with broad flatlands. The Brazos bisects the county. Upland clay and loam cover most of it and are used for pasture and cultivated crops. Deeper loam and sandy loam are used for tomatoes and watermelons. A few oil and gas wells are noted. Mineral artesian wells are the other resource the entry names.

The July 2026 Comptroller figure used here shows a county sales tax of 0.5% for Falls County. State sales tax is 6.25%. Where a city has its own rate, that city rate stacks on the state rate and any county rate. The combined cap is 8.25%. City rates are not listed on this page.

Business personal property renditions go to the county appraisal district for Falls County. Put April 15 on the calendar. That district's form says which date controls the list.

The franchise report is due May 15. Texas has no state income tax. Neither date goes away because of that.
