County histories have credited a railroad official named Leander Brown, but the likelier namesake is Karl Leander, station manager, because stations were often named for the person who ran them. Wesley Craven and J. Sampley built cotton gins. Ranching grew, and cedar fenceposts were sold locally and shipped around the state. U.S. Highway 183 runs through southwestern Williamson, with Travis also on the tax row. A Masonic lodge showed up with the doctors, lawyers, and a bank.
Bagdad on an old bill is the bypassed town, not this one, unless you know the work moved with the merchants. Karl Leander and Leander Brown are two explanations of a name. Neither is a customer. A cedar fencepost shipment is not a gin ticket. A gin ticket is not a lodge due. Craven and Sampley are the gin builders in the account.

Williamson or Travis for the building, not both on one ticket. Cedar Park, up the same highway, has its own row without that transit name. A face that says Cedar Park or Bagdad leaves.
