The city history founds New Braunfels where the Guadalupe and the Comal meet, a German wagon camp under the Adelsverein and Prince Carl of Solms-Braunfels. Textile work later stood on the Comal. Comal County is the seat's county, and the tax row also lists Guadalupe County. A river gathering is not a San Antonio sale.

Nicolaus Zink led the Adelsverein wagon train up the Guadalupe to the ford of the San Antonio to Nacogdoches road. Prince Carl of Solms-Braunfels had picked the camp on Comal Creek, now Dry Comal Creek, where that water meets the Guadalupe. Textile mills later stood on the Comal and shipped cotton and woolen goods. San Antonio lies one way and Austin the other, on Interstate 35. Comal is the seat. Guadalupe is the other county on the tax row.
A wagon-list memory is not a current deposit. A bolt from a Comal mill, if you still buy or sell cloth, is merchandise or a vendor, and you should say which. A Guadalupe roof is not a Comal roof. Name the roof. Do not stack both county pieces onto one ticket just because the confluence is wet on both sides. The mills do not change the local piece printed for this city.
