The handbook splits the city. The rate file does not.
You searched Wichita Falls because part of the city sits in Archer County on the handbook page and the rate file has only one row. That row is Wichita County, city tax 2%, county tax 0, combined 8.25%, no transit. Windthorst is 8.25% in Archer and 7.75% in Clay. There is no Wichita Falls office to visit.
Wichita Falls has one city row, and it is in Wichita County: city tax 2%, county tax 0, no transit, total 8.25%. Archer's handbook says part of the city sits in Archer, beside Archer City, Holliday, and Windthorst. The rate file has no Wichita Falls row in Archer County and none in Clay County. Pleasant Valley in Wichita County is city tax 1%, county tax 0, no transit, total 7.25%. Windthorst in Archer County is city tax 1.5%, county tax 0.5%, no transit, total 8.25%. Windthorst in Clay County is city tax 1.5%, county tax 0, no transit, total 7.75%. Wichita County is central. Archer County and Clay County are outlying. Archer City and Henrietta are the seats.
The county page names the Hotter 'N Hell Hundred, an August race, and Lake Arrowhead State Park. Sheppard Field opened in 1941, went quiet in 1946, and returned in 1948 as Sheppard Air Force Base for technician training and NATO flight training. Refinery work had practically ceased by 1962. Later plants named on the city page include Gates Rubber, Sprague, and Johnson and Johnson. Midwestern State University is the 1961 state school that had been Hardin College and then Midwestern University. Agriculture is stocker cattle, cows, calves, and wheat. Retail trade, oil, manufacturing, the base, and medical services sit in the same mix, and the page calls the city a distribution point into Oklahoma as well as Texas. Archer is agricultural, with oil and gas. Clay's work is ranching, farming, oil, and manufacturing: beef and dairy cattle, horses, wheat, cotton, pecans, and peaches.
Sheppard explains a training calendar. It does not fill in the Archer city row the file omits.
Counties: Wichita (central); Archer (outlying); Clay (outlying).
Three appraisal districts. Business personal property renditions are due April 15 where the property sits. A Wichita Falls address that the handbook places in Archer still needs the county where the property actually sits. The rate file will not answer that with a second city row.
State sales tax is 6.25%. Wichita Falls in Wichita County is city tax 2%, county tax 0, no transit, combined 8.25%. There is no Wichita Falls row in Archer County or Clay County. Pleasant Valley in Wichita County is city tax 1%, county tax 0, no transit, combined 7.25%. Windthorst in Archer County is city tax 1.5%, county tax 0.5%, no transit, combined 8.25%. Windthorst in Clay County is city tax 1.5%, county tax 0, no transit, combined 7.75%.
The franchise report is due May 15. Texas has no state income tax. The combined cap is 8.25%. The permit sets the sales-tax calendar.
Do not invent a Wichita Falls city row for Archer. The handbook places part of the city there. The Comptroller file does not. The only Wichita Falls city row is Wichita County, city tax 2%, county tax 0, total 8.25%, transit blank. Clay has no Wichita Falls city row either. Sheppard's technician courses and the August race do not fill that gap.
Windthorst is the split the file actually prints, and both counties are inside this metro. The Archer row is city tax 1.5%, county tax 0.5%, total 8.25%. The Clay row is city tax 1.5%, county tax 0, total 7.75%. Pleasant Valley, in Wichita County, is city tax 1%, county tax 0, total 7.25%. Henrietta is the Clay seat. Three appraisal districts stay three districts. The bicycle race does not merge them.
Put the county on every Windthorst slip. Set aside a Pleasant Valley slip rung at 2%, and set aside a Clay Windthorst slip rung at 8.25%. Sheppard's class schedule stays in the background. Wheat still in the ground is unsold. A paid race entry counts. A class with no charge is not city tax. By 1962 the city page says refinery work had practically ceased. Gates Rubber, Sprague, and Johnson and Johnson do not create the missing Archer row. Archer City remains the outlying seat, and it is not a substitute Wichita Falls line. Lake Arrowhead State Park is a place on the county page, not a third city row. Stocker cattle, cows, calves, and wheat can sell in Wichita, Archer, or Clay. The slip still has to name the county, because Windthorst's Archer total is 8.25% and Windthorst's Clay total is 7.75%.
A base vendor, a ranch, and a downtown counter start on the industry list.
