The Handbook of Texas says Pasadena took its name from the strawberry growing that followed, on the southern bank of Buffalo Bayou, the water that became the Houston Ship Channel. The same entry ties work to channel industries, the Bayport Industrial District, and the Johnson Space Center in adjacent Clear Lake.
