One logo, many rows. The Woodlands is not a city on the rate file.
You looked up this metro because a Houston address got one rate and the Comptroller file has more than one city row. Every Houston city row is city tax 1% and 8.25%, with Houston MTA or a special district. Galena Park, in Harris, is 7.25%. Pasadena does not use Houston MTA. There is no office here to drop the file at.
Buffalo Bayou's last sixteen miles are the Houston Ship Channel. The Harris County entry says the bayou almost bisects the county and joins the San Jacinto River just above Morgan's Point. The same entry says the channel was deepened to the turning basin at the Port of Houston, and that petroleum refineries were locating along Buffalo Bayou and the San Jacinto by 1918. Pasadena was laid out on the southern bank of that bayou. The Pasadena entry ties employment to ship-channel industries, the Bayport Industrial District, and the Lyndon B. Johnson Space Center in adjacent Clear Lake, and it places San Jacinto College and Texas Chiropractic College in the city. Do not read San Jacinto College as San Jacinto County. That county is outlying, and Coldspring is its seat.
Brazoria's early twenty-first century list is petroleum and chemical production, tourism, and agribusiness, with cattle, hay, and rice among the products. Waller pairs agriculture and some manufacturing with education, including Prairie View A&M, and names cattle and rice. The last sugarcane crop in Fort Bend County was harvested in 1928. Galveston remained a center for medical services and marine research after 1990. Austin County, seat Bellville, is agribusiness, tourism, and some manufacturing, and the entry says many residents commute to Houston. Austin County is not the Austin metro. Montgomery's early twenty-first century passage names lumber and oil production. Conroe is the seat. Chambers and Liberty are outlying. Anahuac and Liberty are the seats. A channel from the Ship Channel toward Anahuac is in the Chambers entry. Brazoria County, Fort Bend County, Harris County, and Waller County are central. Austin County, Chambers County, Galveston County, Liberty County, Montgomery County, and San Jacinto County are outlying.
Read the authority name, not the cap. Every Houston city row is a 1% municipal column plus Houston MTA or a special district, total 8.25%. None zeroes the municipal column. Galena Park, in Harris, is city tax 1%, no county tax, no authority, total 7.25%. Pasadena never prints Houston MTA. Pasadena Crm Con Dist is that city's extra half point.

Ten appraisal districts. Business personal property renditions are due April 15 where the property sits. A Houston address in Harris and a Houston address in Fort Bend do not share one list.
State sales tax is 6.25%. Every Houston city row, in Harris, Fort Bend, and Montgomery, is city tax 1% and combined 8.25%, using Houston MTA at 1% or a special district in its place. Harris Co ESD 6 and Harris Co ESD 12 are 0.5% each on one Harris row. Galena Park in Harris County is city tax 1%, county tax 0, no transit, combined 7.25%. Pasadena is city tax 1.5% plus Pasadena Crm Con Dist 0.5%, no Houston MTA, combined 8.25%. Sugar Land is city tax 2%, no transit, combined 8.25%. Conroe is city tax 2%, no transit, combined 8.25%. No row is named The Woodlands.
The franchise report is due May 15. Texas has no state income tax. The cap is 8.25%. The permit sets the sales-tax calendar.
Ignore the skyline and read the authority. A channel bill, a Pasadena plant chit, and a Sugar Land counter can all show the cap and still be three different names. Every Houston city row pairs a 1% municipal column with either Houston MTA or a special district, and the total is 8.25%. Pasadena's half point is Pasadena Crm Con Dist on a 1.5% municipal column, and Houston MTA is absent. Sugar Land is a 2% municipal column with the authority column blank. The Woodlands is not a city in the file, so use the city that actually contains the address. Conroe, seat of outlying Montgomery, is a 2% municipal column and a blank authority column. Galena Park is the Harris city at 7.25%: city tax 1%, county tax 0, no district.
Channel invoices stay with the county written beside the Houston address. The corporate chart does not move. Pull a Pasadena slip that was given Houston MTA, and pull a Sugar Land slip that was given a district name. Finish that pull on its own day. May 15 is a separate signature. This work has no Houston desk.
Bayport can wait. A Prairie View week can wait. A Galveston clinic month can wait. Goods sitting on the dock are still inventory. Commuting in from Bellville does not move a rendition out of Austin County.
Sugar Land's last local cane harvest was 1928, so a Fort Bend counter today is not a sugar-mill story even though the city page remembers the crop. Waller's education piece is Prairie View A&M. Galveston, after 1990, still reads as medical services and marine research. None of that fills a missing authority name. A Houston city row does not use a zero municipal column. Galena Park is 7.25% because its city tax is 1% and neither Houston MTA nor a district is printed on that row.
