The Handbook of Texas says the Gulf, Colorado and Santa Fe built a camp called Temple Junction, which neighbors called Mud Town or Tanglefoot. The Missouri, Kansas and Texas came through, and the Santa Fe made the town a division point. Bell County is the county. Combined sales tax is 8.25 percent.

Jonathan E. Moore sold acreage to the Gulf, Colorado and Santa Fe for a construction camp. The railroad called the camp Temple Junction, for chief engineer Bernard Moore Temple. Neighbors said Mud Town or Tanglefoot until the post office locked in Temple. The Santa Fe sold lots, the Missouri, Kansas and Texas came through, and the Santa Fe made the place a division point with shops. Interstate 35 crosses State Highway 53 and State Highway 95 in northeastern Bell County, south of Waco and north of Austin on the map.
A shop paycheck from the Santa Fe division point is railroad wages. A store that went up for the lot sale is merchandise. Mud Town on a yellowed scrap is the nickname, not a second municipality. Tanglefoot is the other nickname. Bernard Moore Temple is the engineer the name honors, not a customer you should invent. Doctors and lawyers showed up with the merchants once the shops hired. A professional bill is not a rail-shop wage and not a dry-goods ring-up.
Bell is the only county on this row. No transit authority belongs on a line because a driver came from Austin or Waco. Killeen, elsewhere in Bell, has its own municipal piece. If the face says Killeen, it leaves. The Gulf, Colorado and Santa Fe and the Missouri, Kansas and Texas are the two railroads. Say which road a freight bill belongs to, or say the division shops, or say the store. The junction camp is history. The week is whichever of those three you actually held.
