Two hundred five incorporated cities are in the file behind this index. The sentence under each name is the combined sales-tax rate, the local pieces that file actually names, and the appraisal district that gets the April 15 rendition. Open a linked city if you want the week written out. An unlinked name is the fact by itself.

How to read a line

This index names all 205 incorporated cities in the DFW Comptroller file pulled for this project. Each line states that city's combined sales-tax rate, the city tax, any transit or special-purpose district on the file, and the appraisal district for the April 15 rendition. A city that sits in more than one county is listed under each of those counties, so you can find it from either appraisal district. The city is still one city. A line with a link has its own page. A line without a link is the rate fact only, because that page is not published yet. Nothing here is a population figure, a growth claim, or a count of businesses. Texas state sales tax is 6.25%, and the combined cap is 8.25%. Where a city's named pieces do not add to its combined rate, the line says so and does not invent a name for the difference. Franchise (margin) tax reports are due May 15. A no-tax-due threshold exists and its dollar amount is not printed here.
